What is the content of the databases?

 

What is in the Bankruptcy Database?

The Bankruptcy Database provides details of all individuals petitioned, declared, released or deceased bankrupt. The Bankruptcy database provides bankruptcy filing information from ALL High Courts in Malaysia.  

Petitions from the national newspapers are included since 1 January 1998.  The newspapers covered are:- The Star, New Straits Times, Malay Mail, Berita Harian, The Sun and The Utusan.  These papers are scanned for such records on a daily basis, seven days per week.

Bankruptcy judicial documents are included from 1985.  There are over 100,000 records in the index.  On average 300 new records are added to the database each week.  Records are added as they are available.

The judicial records show the Court filing number, the location, the date of the Notice or order, the name of the individual, the Identification number and, in the case of petitions, the date of the court hearing.

NOTE: An adjudication order is the same as a declaration of bankruptcy.  A receiving order is the first order the court makes in the bankruptcy process.  Individuals who obtain a voluntary declaration of bankruptcy are included one year after the order is obtained.

 

What is NOT included in this database?
  • Full addresses of individuals. These are available only upon request.
  • Name/address of lawyers issuing the notice.  These are available only upon request.

 

How Can I
Use this
Database?

You can search the Bankruptcy Database alone or in combination with other databases in customized searches.

To find an individual type in the least common word/s of the name and press the "Check" button.  For example if the name of the company is "Abdullah Azrie" enter the word Azrie to see all the names that match this string. 
NOTE: Often common names are shortened - eg. Abdullah - Abd.

On the results page choose the link of the name for which you wish to view the record/s in the database. 


What is in the Company Database?

The Company Database provides details of all companies petitioned and wound-up. The Company database provides wind-up/liquidation filing information from ALL High Courts in Malaysia.

Creditors petitions, Notices of Liquidation and Voluntary Wind-up Resolutions are included since 1993.  The source of the information is mainly from notices in the Government Gazette.  From 1 August 1998 petition notices are included as they are advertised in the daily newspapers.  The newspapers covered for the petitions are:- The Star, New Straits Times, Malay Mail, Berita Harian, The Sun and The Utusan.  These papers are read on a daily basis, seven days per week.    On average 100 new records are added each week.  Records are added to the database daily.

The records show the Court filing number, the location, the date of the Notice or order, the name of the company, the name of the creditor/petitioner, the company number and Subscribeed address (where available) and, in the case of petitions, the date of the court hearing for the petition.

 

What is NOT included in this database?
  • Name/address of lawyers issuing the petition.  These are available only upon request.

You can search the Company Database alone or in combination with other databases in customized searches.

To find an company type in the least common word/s of the name and press the "Check" button.  For example if the name of the company is "Abacus Electronics" enter the word Abacus to see all the names that match this string. 

On the results page choose the link of the name for which you wish to view the record/s in the database.


What is in the Summons Database?

The Summons Database provides details of all individuals or companies where substituted service of a summons has been issued by advertisement in the daily Malaysian Newspapers.

Summons from the Malaysian national newspapers are included since 1 July 1998.  The newspapers covered are:- The Star, New Straits Times, Malay Mail, Berita Harian, The Sun and The Utusan.  These papers are read on a daily basis, seven days per week.   On average 100 new records are added each week.  Records are added to the database daily.

The records show the Court filing number, the location of the filing, the date of the Notice or order, the name of the individual or company , the amount of the summons (where available), the identification number of the individual or company (where available) and the date of the court hearing.

 

What is NOT included in this database?
  • Full addresses of individuals. These are available only upon request.
  • Name/address of lawyers issuing summons.  These are available only upon request.

What use is this service?

Malaysian L.e.g.a.l  C.h.e.c.k is a publication clipping service that is a valuable preliminary source for uncovering legal records about a company or individual. This service can save you both time and money by identifying critical preliminary information and potential complications early. This service is a first stop for checking on names - for accurate information further checking with the official source is always advisable.

Our database includes business and personal filings from the official Government sources for all the Malaysian states. These sources are digitised to enable fast access to users. 

Caution: Since we use the printed Government Gazette Information for much of the data the timeliness of the sources may not provide the latest information.  All information on Legal Check must be regarded as preliminary - for the latest accurate information users should consult an official resource or one of the parties involved in the legal action.  The information here can be used to alert you to seek further information on a particular party.  Please consult the Terms and Conditions before using this service.

Use Malaysian L.e.g.a.l  C.h.e.c.k to determine:

  • If and when a party has filed bankruptcy
  • Debtor name and  Identification Number
  • Co-debtor name(s)
  • Case number, hearing date and location
  • Notice, order, petition dates
  • Search by company or individual name, or identification number across:-
    individual databses or all databases

     


    Do we provide customer support for using the database?

    There is on-line assistance with all the features available at L.e.g.a.l  C.h.e.c.k. There is specific help for using the search engine and for electronic searching generally. A tutorial is available that takes you through all the steps of an actual search. A feedback/comments form is provided for email responses.
